Eyesight

We are adaptive creatures. Our bodies adapt and change to fit our environment in order to keep us alive. Those who can’t, get eaten or die out.  We use to be hunters and gatherers, and needed good distance vision.  Over a millennia, our eyes have adapted for distance vision to help us find food and stay alive. Most of us don’t hunt and gather anymore.

Today, we play, read, research and work.  We spend most of our days working on a computer, watching TV, or reading a book. Our eyes, tire quickly because it’s not made for near work. It can adapt to allow us to work longer at near distances with less tiredness. The price we pay is blurry distance vision and eye problems.

Our eyes are adaptive.  It deteriorates, but it can also improve. With knowledge and exercises, we should be able to improve and maintain perfect eyesight for a lifetime.  The articles and resources here will give you the tools, and hopefully, the motivation to maintain and to improve your eye health and vision for a lifetime.

“A human being is a part of a whole, called by us "universe", a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
